Twitter May 26, 2010

I'm not a big fan of twitting, but I do see some advantages (like sharing breaking news about the library). I don't think we should be limited to business news only. I would appreciate being informed about intertainment issues or something similar. It can be used to quickly share information with people interested in contests, bookclubs etc. It can help build relationships with customers, co-workers in other branches etc.

LibraryThing 05/19/2010

LibraryThing is an amazing online service, a sort of Facebook for people who like books. I have been using it for more than a year now. I can share my library with others, and meet people with similar tastes. The experience is like walking into someone's home and looking at their collection of books. I have extensively used it with some of my regular customers, especially those who ask me what I'm reading at the moment.

Online Productivity Tools. May 12, 2010

1. Online Productivity Tools really make our life easier.
The Calender is great, because it can syncronize my calender at work with my personal one.
2. I really liked Google docs (presetation tools are great). I also played with family budget spreadsheet, read a comment about "a 502 error on the spreadsheet". It doesn't threaten my budget, but it means that one should be really careful about calculating errors.
3. I'm not quite sure that all free online tools eventually will replace MS Office or alike because we have to be careful about our privacy. In any technological progress we always deal with advantages and disadvantages, and one of the disadvantages is our privacy.

Flickr, You Tube

Both Web sites are very friendly. I have been constantly using You Tube, especially for entertainment issues.
Flickr is something new, and very fasinating. It is an amazing photografic community with sharing at its heart. Searching for 'night images' on topic and groups gave me different results. Everyone explods showed 74,571 members and 678, 675 photoes, while group searching result was more modest. But it was fun.
